Slow Foxtrot Lessons: Where to Start
If you're new to Slow Foxtrot, or you know a few figures and want a clear path, this page is for you. I've put my Slow Foxtrot lessons in a simple learning order: the basic and advanced routine first, then the Feather Step, then solo practice and performance, plus a few general Ballroom lessons that help. Work through them in order, and come back to any step whenever you need it.
Step 1 · The routine
Slow Foxtrot Basic and Advanced Routine
Two routines to follow along with: a basic one built from the Feather Step, Reverse Turn, Three Step and Natural Turn, then an advanced one that adds figures such as the Open Telemark and Outside Swivel, all counted in slows and quicks.

How to Dance the Slow Foxtrot Feather Step
The Feather Step for man and lady, built on CBM on step one so you can step outside partner on step three, then letting the sway happen as a result: step, swing, sway.

Solo Practice, Slow Foxtrot and the Art of Performance
How to practise solo as if your partner is in your arms, how to perform with more expression, and why Slow Foxtrot feels hard: it never stops, so you control your weight the whole time.

How to Use Your Feet in Ballroom Dancing
In the swing dances, including Slow Foxtrot, every direction is measured off your supporting foot: forward is straight forward, side is in line with your standing leg and closed means toes and heels together.
